The company is commercializing research from Admir Masic’s MIT lab to create a cement additive that could increase concrete lifespan by 50% while reducing carbon dioxide emissions to 40% of traditional concrete.

That may sound like a city construction story, but every farmer knows concrete is part of agriculture’s backbone. It is under the milk room, around the grain bin, in the feed pad, beneath the workshop, lining channels, supporting water tanks, and keeping mud from swallowing the loading area. For farmers, the key will be cost, availability, strength, and performance under real farm abuse. Concrete on farms faces manure acids, freeze-thaw cycles, heavy equipment, livestock traffic, washdowns, and the occasional loader operator who is in a hurry.
