Citrus paradisi

Grapefruit is a relatively recent citrus species, a natural hybrid of sweet orange and pomelo that originated in Barbados. The large trees produce clusters of fruit that hang like grapes, giving the fruit its name. Varieties range from tart white to sweet ruby red.
